A couple of things

A couple of new pieces. First off:

I like to return to old pieces that I think have potential to be better than they were. This was a student piece - a scene from a New Orleans jazz funeral - that I thought could be updated.  Here's the original:

I've tweaked the value structure, livened the lines, muted the colors, and given it a much needed visual resting space. Also, I don't know why the coffin was solid gold in the original...Needless to say, this drawing took a long time to create, and a long time to revise.

This is a piece illustrating a friend's screenplay; I don't want to give anything away. After I finished drawing the robot, everything else was extremely frustrating. After many hours of failure, I'm finally happy with the result.

  1. Nice, Mike! I have not had the patience to revise any of my illustrations, but you have inspired me to try again. Also, "Tumbleweed" seems epic!
